Motorcycle Training in Chesterfield

Practical Tests

Within two years of having passed your theory test, you can take your practical tests either on:

  • A 125cc machine (you need to be aged 17+ for this) which will mean you are restricted to riding a motorcycle of 25kw (33bhp) for two years after which you can ride any motorcycle you like.
  • A 500cc machine (you need to be aged 21 or over for this) which will mean you can ride any motorcycle you choose (Direct Access Scheme).
in the classroom

The practical tests are in two parts:

  • Module 1 is off-road and involves performing a range of manoeuvres on our training pad. These include: wheeling your bike/moped and using its stand, negotiating a slalom, performing a figure of eight, cornering, avoiding a hazard, coming to a controlled stop, executing a U-turn, demonstrating slow-riding skills and an emergency stop.
  • Module 2 is on-road. After passing an eyesight test, you'll be asked a few questions before heading out onto the road. You'll be expected to demonstrate safe riding skills at all times as well as performing a few manoeuvres for your examiner to assess you.

We have many courses available to give you the training you need, come and talk to us so that we can discuss the best options for you.

You can find out more about the tests by popping in to see us or from Directgov.
